Obituary of Jo Ann Wilkinson

Jo Ann Wilkinson (née Ledbetter), 98, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2026. Born on October 25, 1927, Jo Ann was the daughter of Harold and Mary Ledbetter. She was born and raised in Elizabethtown, IL and graduated from MacMurray College in 1949 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics.

In 1950, she married Clinton R. Wilkinson. They shared 30 wonderful years of marriage until Clint’s passing in 1980. Jo Ann devoted herself to raising her family while also enjoying a career as a dietitian for many years at the Med Inn in Munster, Indiana.

She was a faithful and active member of Woodmar United Methodist Church in Hammond, Indiana for more than 50 years, where she served with dedication and formed many lasting friendships.

She was also an active member of P.E.O., an organization that reflected her commitment to education, friendship, and community service.

Those who knew Jo Ann will remember her gentle spirit, quiet strength, and warm smile. She had a gracious way of making others feel welcome and loved, and she found her greatest joy in caring for her family, her church, and her friends. Above all, Jo Ann cherished her family.

She is survived by her children, Mary (Ervin) Zaikis, David (Donna) Wilkinson, Joel Wilkinson, and John Wilkinson; her grandchildren, Tim Wilkinson, Joseph (Erica) Wilkinson, Clinton (Emily) Zaikis, and Elizabeth (Brad) Ehrhardt; and seven beloved great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clinton R. Wilkinson, in 1980; her grandson David Wilkinson, Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Susan Wilkinson, in 2021; and her brother, John H. Ledbetter.

A private graveside service will be held for the immediate family.

Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord — Matthew 25:23
