Obituary of James “Bud” R. Hubbard

 Rev. James R. “Bud” Hubbard, beloved father, age 83, of Junction, IL, peacefully entered eternal rest with his Savior and Lord on Friday, July 17, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his wife and loving family. Bud was born on May 17, 1943, in Hardin County to the late James W. and Jaunita Hubbard. 

 He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He later received an honorable discharge. 

 Bud worked for Peabody Coal Company for 22 years before retiring. In addition to his career in the coal industry, he faithfully served as a full-time minister. 

 He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and cherished the time he spent outdoors. 

 He is survived by his loving wife, Creda E. (Cowsert) Hubbard, whom he enjoyed life with for 61 wonderful years. Bud is also survived by his son Jason (Tina) Hubbard, and two daughters he lovingly raised, Liz Fechtig, and Julie (Gail) Heimgartner. 

 Bud and Creda also opened their hearts and home to numerous foster children. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Jaci, Jacob, Caleb, Caitlin, Padamae, Rostin, as well as great-grandchildren. 

 He leaves behind his beloved sister, Faye Donithan, and her late husband Wesley Donithan. 

 Above all, Bud loved the Lord and faithfully served Him for 60 years in ministry. Throughout his years as a pastor, he shepherded five churches, faithfully preached the Gospel, and had the privilege of seeing many lives transformed through faith in Jesus Christ. Bud pastored Calvary’s Promise Church for 17 years, serving until the Lord called him home. 

 Bud and his wife, Creda, deeply loved and appreciated their church family for the unwavering love, prayers, encouragement and support they showed throughout the years. His greatest joy was pointing others to the Lord, and his legacy of faith will continue for generations. 

 Visitation will be held on Monday, July 20th, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado, with Ted Boulds, Charles DePriest, and Steve Hunt officiating. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., immediately following the visitation. Burial will take place at Cowsert Cemetery in Hardin County.
