Obituary of Hazel D. Hess

Hazel D. Hess, age 78, of Hill City, MN died Tuesday, March 28, 2023, surrounded by family. Hazel was born in 1944 to Robert and Myrtle Lasater in Sparks Hill, IL.
Hazel and William Hess were united in marriage on March 20, 1965, in Illinois. In 1976, they moved to Minnesota to pursue Bill’s love of hunting and fishing.
Hazel worked for many years as a registered nurse at Grand Itasca Hospital and was a devoted caretaker to her husband and children. She enjoyed crafting and spending time with her family.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; son, William Jr.; infant son, Lowell; and Bill’s daughter, Roxanne; brothers, James Lasater, Tom Lasater, John Lasater, and Lowell Deon Lasater; and sisters, Liz Pratt and Helen Dale.
Hazel is survived by son, James of Aitkin, MN; stepsons, Rolland (Connie), Rodney (Cheryl); brother, Charles Lasater of Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation was held Monday, April 10, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. and lasted until the 11:00 a.m. memorial service at the United Methodist Church, Hill City, MN.
An additional burial service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Lasater-Mott Cemetery in Hardin County. Randy Vaughn will officiate.
