Obituary of James Russell “Rusty” Warren

James Russell “Rusty” Warren age 75, of Rosiclare, passed away at 10:50 a.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Hardin County General Hospital, surrounded by his family. Rusty was born on September 27, 1947 in Rosiclare to Clyde Russell and Verna R. (English) Warren.
On August 8, 1966 he married Dora Kay Bayne and she survives in Rosiclare.
Rusty worked as a correctional officer and was also Deputy Sheriff of Hardin County. He loved helping people and serving the community. He was passionate about the Shop with a Cop program and Rusty and Dora were foster parents for over 25 years. Rusty was a member of the First Christian Church of Rosiclare and the First Apostolic Church of Rosiclare.
In addition to his wife Dora, Rusty is survived by three children, daughter, Kimberly Ann Jennings of Metropolis, James Gregory Warren and wife Julie of Rosiclare, and Misty Dawn Forwe of Cave-In-Rock; six grandchildren, Tyler Jennings and wife Laura of Palmyra, Tennessee, Kayla Jennings of Metropolis, Joshua Warren and wife Beth of Herrin, Brennon Warren and wife Haley of De Soto, Addisyn Warren and Jordan Hartman of Murray, Kentucky, Rowan Flynn of Cave-In-Rock, and one on the way; two great-grandchildren, Aniston Jennings and Lawson Jennings of Palmyra, Tennessee; mother, Verna R. Spivey of Rosiclare; brother, Larry Warren of Rosiclare; brother, Gary Warren and wife Rita of Cave-In-Rock; sister, Regina Cowsert and husband David of Metropolis; sister, Sharon Robinson and husband Mike of Herod; brother, Ricky Warren and wife Anna of Metropolis; brother, Kevin Warren of Rosiclare; sister, Debbie Wallace and husband Bill of Rosiclare; and sister, Joyce Boone and husband Scott of Henderson, Kentucky; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rusty was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Russell Warren and a brother, Ronnie Warren.
Funeral services for James Russell “Rusty” Warren will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Rev. Greg Love and Bro. Leonard Largent will officiate. Burial will follow in Fluorine Cemetery at Rosiclare. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hardin County Shop with a Cop program. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
