Effective Wednesday, April 1, RMTD will suspend fare collection indefinitely. Monthly passes will be valid through May 1, 2020. All eligible Medicaid and MCO trips will continue being billed through the same insurance process. This initiative is being implemented to help reduce exposure and best adhere to social distancing guidelines. We recommend contacting your local RMTD Operation Center for route availability at least 24 hours in advance. Hardin County General Hospital: As we deal with the coronavirus threat we are compelled to take actions with the goal of containment. We are asking for your cooperation, understanding and patience as we go forward. The following are some actions that have been implemented:
• We are restricting visitors.
• All patients that come in for visits such as blood work; X-Ray, etc. will be screened upon entrance.
• The main lobby and ER entrances will stay open. All other entrances will remain closed and locked.
• Clinic visits for those who are in good health will be seen in the morning from 9:00 a.m – 1:30 p.m. All patients who are sick will be seen in the evening starting at 2:00 p.m. Any patient at risk over 65 with chronic respiratory problems may be asked to reschedule routine visits.
• Clinic visit restrictions will also be listed on our Facebook page.
• Serenity meetings will be put on hold for the next two weeks.
• The Hospital Gift Shop will be closed until further notice.
• If you have legitimate concern that you may have the coronavirus, we are requesting that you call instead of presenting to the ER, 618-285-6634.
We may be implementing other measures as we go forward. We are being constantly updated by the Illinois Department of Public Health regarding actions taken by the State of Illinois, The CDC, and all other agencies.
We are asking that you try to stay calm as we go through this process. Area wide panic could make it really difficult for us to do our jobs. We don’t want to underplay the importance of attempting to contain this virus, but We do hope some common sense will come into play. Even if we should sometime have a positive test here, please remember that not everyone will get it and that the vast majority of those cases are extremely mild not unlike the flu that we have been dealing with.
Another concern we have is that some people with acute medical problems that need medical attention may be hesitant to come for treatment. Please don’t be. We are committing to you that we will not lose site of the fact that our primary responsibility is to treat people who are ill or injured. We know that we can depend on your understanding and we appreciate your continued support. Roby Williams, CEO and Marcos Sunga, M.D.
