Obituary of Laverna B. Simmons
Laverna B. Simmons, 89, of Cave In Rock, Il passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Midtown Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. Laverna was a member of the Free Pentecost Church of Rosiclare.
She loved her family and was her husband George’s soulmate. She was also a minister of God.
Laverna is survived by her husband, George Simmons; daughters, Helen (John) Spinks and Rebecca (Dewey) Kramer; grandchildren, John Spinks II, Melissa McKaig, Jessicca Murphy, Timothy Spinks, Rathon Zilbar, Jeremy Kramer, Nichole Kramer, Justin Kramer, Tiffany Meier, and Brittany Tootell; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeremiah and Emma Dihel; sister, Freda Mitchel; and first husband, Rhudell Van Hooser.
Services for Laverna will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Hardin County Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. till time of service. Interment will follow in Cave Hill Cemetery.
