Obituary of Glen Wayne Elder

Glen Wayne Elder, son of Carl and Clara Elder, was born May 14, 1958. He left this world on Monday, June 10, 2024, for his new home in Heaven. He was in the Hardin County General Hospital at the time of his death at 7:56 a.m.
Glen was an industrious man of many trades during his lifetime. He was a plumber when he lived in Texas. He worked for McDonald’s corporation doing sheet metal work using a plasma cutter and he did the welding on the sheet metal. He won an outstanding performance award for his prestigious work for their company. Glenn also did concrete work in different areas of Illinois. Glenn loved to tinker with automobiles and was known as a “shade tree mechanic” lol. He loved the great outdoors as did Jo, and they spent many hours searching creek beds for fossils treasures, and rocks that were of interest to them.
Glen was united in marriage July 4, 2019, to his soulmate, best friend, and sidekick Joanne (Vineyard) Elder. He is also survived by, one grandson, Collin Elder; two brothers, Ted Elder and Daniel R. (Kimberly) Elder; one sister, Linda Elder.
Glen was preceded in death by his eldest brother, Danny Elder; his dad, Carl Elder; his sister, Lois Elder; his daughter, Melissa Elder Rehil; and his mother Clara Elder, who recently passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
Glenn’s wishes were to be cremated and have his ashes spread down at Rose Ford. He had many fond memories with his family and friends there. There will be no immediate services or visitation, only a private Celebration of Life ceremony for mama Clara and Glenn in September of this year for childhood friends and family members.
