Hardin County students to return to school Wednesday, August 11

Hardin County teachers will start the 2021-2022 school year off on Tuesday, Aug. 9 with a Teacher Institute Day from 7:55 a.m. – 3:25 p.m. There will be no student attendance that day.

In accordance with the Illinois State Superintendent of Schools July 9, 2021 declaration, Hardin County Schools will be open fully for in-person learning for all student attendance days for the 2021-22 school year. Remote instruction will only be made available for quarantined students with exceptions as created through the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois State Board of Education.

Update: Masks must be worn on buses and in driver’s ed car, and now in the school since Gov. Pritzker announced Wednesday that a mask requirement has been mandated for Pre-K-12 schools and long-term care facilities, to prevent spread of the highly transmissible COVID-19 Delta variant.

BACK TO SCHOOL BASH

On Tuesday, August 10th a Back to School Bash will be held for students from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., see flyer on the back page. Parents(s)/guardian(s) are asked to be in attendance with their student(s). Parents and students can meet the teachers, and parents can attend a short seminar about the upcoming school year. There are several new staff members in the building this school year. Grade level seminars will be repeated several times throughout the day for parents’ convenience.

Junior high and high school students can pick up their class schedules and do a tour of the building (if needed).
The school nurse will be available to discuss student health requirements including physicals and vaccinations for the upcoming school year.
Hardin County Hospital Clinic staff will be at the school on Aug. 10th to give school/sports physicals (if parent/guardian is in attendance) and can also give required vaccinations if parents call the clinic and schedule the vaccinations beforehand.

Free haircuts will be available for students courtesy of Tammy Rose, Hilary Hughes, and Ashley Williax.

There will be free backpacks and school supplies for Hardin County students made possible through generous donations from throughout the county. This giveaway was coordinated by Friends of Hardin County, Alisha Foster from Arrowleaf, and Hardin County Schools. There will also be refreshments available.

A COVID vaccination clinic will be held at the school for anyone 12 years of age and older. The Pfizer brand vaccine will be utilized. The vendor providing vaccinations for this event requires parents to be present and consent forms signed.

Wed., August 11- First attendance day for students and now back to the regular schedule of Monday-Friday, 8:00-2:42 for grades 6-12 and 8:00- 2:45 for Pre-K – 5.
