Obituary of Ronald Dee Austin

Ronald Dee Austin was born August 4, 1954 to Dorothy and Donald Austin at Hardin County Hospital. He departed this life on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at the Rosiclare Rehab and Health Care Center at the age of 66. Funeral services and burial was at Crain Funeral Home in Murphysboro, Illinois on March 19, 2021.
Ronnie and Kathy Reed Austin were married for 46 years, and had a son, Jeremy Austin.
He was preceded in death by wife Kathy, and his parents, Dorothy and Donald Austin. Survivors include his son, Jeremy, and grandson, Jacob of Dayton, Ohio, and Sister Sandy Worley of Golconda, Illinois.
Ronnie was raised in Hardin County and graduated at Cave-In-Rock High School in 1972. Ronnie worked in fluorspar and coal mines in Illinois, Kentucky, and Wyoming. Ronnie and Kathy resided in Dayton, Ohio until Kathy’s death in June 2019.
Ronnie moved back to Hardin County, Illinois on January 17, 2020, to spend his final days with close friends. He resided in the home of Ken and Olettia Gleason until his condition required 24-hour care in Rosiclare Rehab.
A special thank you to his nurse, Alecia Ewell, Hospice of Southern Illinois, the Rosiclare Rehab and Healthcare Center for their excellent care, and all of Ronnie’s friends that visited and supported him to the end. All who knew him will miss him.
