High School and Jr. High Graduation
reschedule dates being considered

The Hardin County Jr. High School and High School Graduation ceremonies scheduled for May 7th and May 8th have been postponed due to the Governor’s stay-at home order. The Board of Education has come up with two suggestions for dates to reschedule the students’ graduation. Those dates are: June 11th and June 12th, 2020, or July 9th and July 10th, 2020. The final decision will be made by the Board of Education once the stay-at-home order by the governor has been lifted.

PROM plans to be determined;
Student feedback being requested

On Monday night, the Board of Education discussed several options for Prom this year. The options are as follows:

1. Reschedule the prom to a later date
2. Invite this year’s seniors to next year’s prom
3. Have our students participate in the Southern Illinois Prom sponsored by The Pavillion and Joyce’s Boutique (the school would provide transportation to and from the prom).
4. Cancel Prom all together

Juniors and seniors should check their school email and complete the prom survey from Mr. Dorris. Superintendent Edmondson and the Board of Education understand this has been anything but normal. With that being said they want students’ feedback to make this prom as special as can be considering the circumstances.

School days are winding down;

End of year schedule

Seniors –
Last day for students’ assignments is Tuesday, April 28. Seniors should turn in books, assignments, and Chrome books to their bus drivers on April 29 and 30. Those items may also be dropped off at the school before noon each day. They get out early because they were originally scheduled to graduate on May 8 before the closure.

8th grade –
Last day for students’ assignments will be Monday, May 4th. Turn in work by original graduation date. 8th graders finish early because they were originally scheduled to graduate on May 7 before the closure.

Grades K-7  and Grades 9-11
Last day of grades K-7 and grades 9-11 students’ assignments will be May 13.

School Breakfasts/Lunches –
The last day of school lunches delivered will be May 19. This will also be the absolute last day that students’ work will be accepted, because the teachers’ last day is May 20. Mr. Dorris urges students to get work turned in the week of May 11-15 (see below).

Student assignments –
Student assignments will be picked up on two buses per day during the week of May 11 – 15. A schedule will be published so that students will know which day to turn in assignments, books, and Chrome books to their bus driver. Parents may also drop those items off in a box outside the front doors of the school before noon each day during that week.
