Community raised $29,564 at Relay for Life of Hardin County; 2020 tentative date set
A wrap up meeting and potluck was be held at the First Apostolic Church fellowship hall on Monday, October 28, to discuss the 2019 Relay for Life that was held on Friday, September 13. Those in attendance gave feedback on their experiences from the event describing what went well and what needs to be improved for the 2020 Relay for Life.
The event was well attended and more teams participated that night than they had in over a decade. $17,528.55 was counted that evening when accounting closed for the night. Since the Relay, more money has been collected ending the 2019 Hardin County Relay for Life with a grand total of $29,564!
Olivia Majerchin, Community Development Manager, attended the meeting and reported the 15 final team totals:
Banterra Bank – $553, Court House Chics $5,642, Family Counseling Center – $782, Freedom House of Worship – made donations to help event total, Good Hope Church – made donations to help event total, Hardin County Democrats- $350, Hardin County Independent – $880, Hardin County Republicans – $300, Hardin County Teachers – $1,146, IL Central School Bus – $1,456, Potters Church – $,1536, Team Bethany – $6,620, Team Cougars – $180, and USPS Delivering Results For Life – $965.
There was $1,671 raised from luminaria sales, $1,472 raised from the silent auction, $580 from the dessert auction, approximately $2,000 from the food tent, and there is still possibly more to come in.
A tentative date has been set for the 2020 Relay for Life. It is planned to be held at the school on Friday, August 1, 2020 from 5 – 12 p.m. The next planning meeting will be held on Monday, March 30, 2020 at 4:45 p.m.
