Obituary of Betty Ann Haney

On Monday, May 11, 2026 at 2:03 a.m., Betty Ann Haney passed away in her Albuquerque, New Mexico home at age 92. Betty was born on September 10, 1933 in Harrisburg, Illinois.
Betty had an inquisitive and curious mind. She liked to discover, explore and learn from her world through different places and people. Betty embraced the life of a military wife continually moving while caring for her children.
In her career experience as a bank teller she welcomed connecting with people. She loved interacting daily with the many different customers and easily became friends with so many.
After she retired she would take road trips. One day she bought a motor home and off she went.
But Betty always said that she could also have been just as happy to have stayed in Southern Illinois where she spent her childhood growing up on the banks of the Ohio River. She remained grounded to this place and all she knew there.
Betty embraced a life of new ideas through places and people. She was a true adventurer.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, James Mayfield; her mother, Geneva (Watson); her sister, Jane; her brother, Gary; and her son, Max.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy; sons, Mike and Steve; and two grandchildren.
She was cremated and will be interred in Empire Cemetery in Elizabethtown, Illinois this fall.
