Obituary of J.C. Schutt

J.C. Schutt left this earth for his heavenly home on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at 6:15 p.m. at Hardin County General Hospital with his family by his side, being the age of 93 years, 7 months, and 5 days old at the time of his death. J.C. was born in Hickstown, IL to Clyde and Mollie (Baldwin) Schutt on November 6, 1932.
He is the oldest Schutt to have ever lived as far as anyone can go back. His goal was 100!
J.C. was a devoted Christian man and a member of Good Hope General Baptist Church where he attended until his health failed.
In July, 1953, he met the love of his life, Shirlie Ann Wheatcroft. They were married April 3, 1954. To this union three beautiful daughters were born.
Those who preceded him in death are his wife of 70 years, Shirlie Schutt; parents, Clyde and Mollie Schutt; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jeff and Louise Wheatcroft; two brothers, L.D. (Doc) Schutt and John Schutt; sisters, Mary Vinyard and Faye Harrison; two half-sisters, Nina DeNeal and June Burgin; three sisters-in-law, Joyce Owens, Susie Stanfield, and Helen Wheatcroft.
He leaves to mourn his best friend Skip, whom he spoiled every hour of every day; three daughters, Sharon (Eddie) Snyder of Herod, Denita Hahn (Larry Barger) of Golconda, and Deann (Randy) Spivey of Cave In Rock; two grandsons, Jason (Austin) Snyder of Herod and David (Stephanie) Hahn of Gibson City; three granddaughters, Jennifer (Brian) Price of Harrisburg, Valerie (Eric) Werner of Edwardsville, and Jessica Spivey (Justin Millikan) of Princeton KY; eight great-grandchildren, Levi and Luke Snyder, Kylie and Makaya Price, Meredith and Peyton Hahn, Vivian and Josie Werner; and siblings, A.D. Schutt, Ruby Crabb, and Bob Schutt; along with a host of nephews, nieces, friends and church family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville, IL. Officiating will be Bro. Steve Hunt and Pastor Jared Pennell. Burial will follow at the Good Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026 and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

He was a good man. I haven’t seen him in years. I remember when he run the store at Hickstown long time ago.
