Obituary of Dennis Eugene Gibbs

71 years and 6 days

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of my brother, Dennis Eugene Gibbs of Fulton, Kentucky. Dennis was born in Rosiclare, Illinois on January 12, 1954 to his proud parents, Harry Weldon Gibbs and Blanche Imolene (Reed) Gibbs. He was 71 years and 6 days of age at his passing on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
Dennis was raised on a farm just outside of Elizabethtown. He graduated from Cave In Rock High School in 1971. In the fall of 1971 he began his schooling to become a nurse. After finishing his training, he went to work at Hardin County General Hospital. He also worked at the VA, in Marion, Illinois and Southern Illinois Hospice Care. He was a nurse for over 30 years.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Harry W. Gibbs and Blanche Imolene Gibbs.
He is survived by his brother, Leon (Debbie) Gibbs; niece, Jessica (John) Daymon; and nephew, Joe Gibbs, all of Elizabethtown, Illinois. He is also survived by three great-nieces, Samantha Daymon, Ryki (Sam) Dietz, and Catie Daymon; and three great-nephews, Braden, Seth and William, who he dearly loved. Dennis had many friends, including two very close friends in Fulton, Kentucky, Marcia Johnson and Raymond Kreps; and Jeanette Oxford of St. Louis and Diann (Reed) Vaughn.
His wishes were for a graveside service with family and friends. The service will be announced at a later date. Burial will be in Empire Cemetery in Elizabethtown, Illinois.
