Obituary of Judith Evelyn Meinders

Judith Evelyn Meinders went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 23, 2023. She was born May 21, 1936 in Livermore, Kentucky to Franklin and Gene Chaddock Tucker.
She graduated from Rosiclare High School and Southern Illinois University. She was a college professor and Business Department Head at Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
She was married to Lee Meinders for 59 years until his death in 2020. She was a devoted, wife, educator, sister, daughter and aunt.
She is survived by her niece, Alison (Stan) Powles of Golconda, IL; her nephew, Wade Barnerd of New York, New York; her great-nieces, Hilary (Mike Parker) Powles of St. Louis, Missouri and Emily Powles of Marion, Illinois; and her step-sister, Carol (Roger) Hannan of Rosiclare, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Meinders; her parents, Frank and Gene Tucker; her sister, Joan Perry; and her step-mother, Hazel Tucker.
Judy had a great love of nature and animals. She was an avid reader, loved country music, was an accomplished cook, and in her later years enjoyed spending time with her niece and her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Elizabethtown, Illinois.
Graveside services were held Monday, October 30, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Empire Cemetery in Elizabethtown, IL. The Reverend Ed Lafferty officiated. Arrangements were under the care of Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville, IL.
