Obituary of Luke Garrison Hawkins

Luke Garrison Hawkins entered this world on September 16, 2002, in Evansville, IN, to his parents Leslie and Mindy (Milligan) Hawkins of Boxville, KY. He passed away at home, Thursday, July 27, 2023 at age 20.
The moment he arrived, he forever blessed the lives of those around him as he arrived perfectly formed in God’s love. Luke believed every soul on this Earth was important. He felt deeply and loved with every ounce of his soul. He was connected to all living things and if you had time, he would show you his world and change your perception on life. He lived. He lived passionately, noticing details that others overlooked. He was gifted in ways this world could never fathom or understand. He saw beauty where others saw blemishes; he could look at a piece of willow and create a masterpiece.
Luke was always a creative soul, from doodling and sketching worlds and animals unknown, to building furniture and creating his own unique pieces of art. Luke had a servant’s heart and whether you realized it or not, he was always building something in you. His heart was art. Luke was gentle, he brought the calmness in a storm. There was peace, acceptance, and light in everything he laid eyes on. Luke’s heart was full of love and he made it easy to be loved by so many. We all have a masterpiece to be found in Luke’s love. Luke’s love for the Earth can remind us to remember him in everything around us; from the butterfly in the garden, the sunshine on your face, the breeze against your skin, the fawn running through the meadow, the sound of life and the beauty in the sky.
Luke spent his early childhood in Boxville, KY, while attending elementary school in Sturgis. He attended Union County High School where he was Vice President of the FFA and graduated in 2021, receiving agricultural scholarships. He later moved to Elizabethtown, IL, to pursue a degree at Southeastern Illinois College for Forest and Wildlife Management where his knowledge and love for nature grew. Luke’s abundant love for the Lord could be seen in all that he was a part of during his life.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Lane Hawkins (Lea Parkinson); sisters, Savannah and Ellise Hawkins; nephew Liam Hawkins; grandparents, Ma and Pa Carroll Milligan; Momma, Laura Bergeron; Papa, Eric and Rhonda Hawkins; uncles, Josh Hawkins, Joey Thompson, Nolan Bragg, Michael Milligan, Dennis Milligan, Mason Scroggins, Roger Dailey; aunts, Sereta Thompson, Alycia Tomlinson, Karrie Scott, Gail Dailey, Breanna Scroggins, Tricinda Milligan, Holly Milligan; and many close cousins whom he adored.
