Obituary of Mildred Duncan

Mildred Duncan, age 90, of Golconda, IL passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Hardin County General Hospital in Rosiclare, IL.
Mildred was born June 27, 1933 to the late Walter and Blanche (Swinford) Rixie in New Liberty, IL. Mildred’s father died at an early age. She was raised by her mother and her husband, Jess Atkinson. Mildred worked at the Pope County Care Center in Golconda for over 25 years.
Mildred is survived by two sons, Jonathan (Nikki) Duncan of Golconda, IL and Larry (Patty) Duncan of Bay City, IL; two daughters, Phyllis Nichols of Houston, TX and Linda Duncan of Golconda, IL; sister, Beulah (Jack) Hayden of Rosiclare, IL; daughter-in-law, Suzanna Duncan of Golconda, IL; seventeen grandchildren, Teresa Nichols, Jason Nichols, Timmy Nichols, Nikita Shoulta, Jody Werner, Lindsey Tirey, Greta Cross, Miranda Campbell, Meagan Reed, Shelby Jeffords, Logan Duncan, Garrett Sayge, Jared Sayge, Jordan Sayge, Ginger Sayge, Georgia Sayge, Justin Sayge; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Duncan; four grandchildren, Phillip Noel Duncan, Josh Duncan, Tricia Duncan, Vanessa Nichols; and four siblings, David Atkinson, Gene Atkinson, Johnny Atkinson, Lovelace Cowsert.

Cremation has taken place and the service will be private. Aly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
