Obituary of Timothy “Tim” Wayne Oxford

December 29, 1956 – July 12, 2023

 Timothy “Tim” Wayne Oxford, 66, of McLeansboro, IL, went to be with the Lord on July 12, 2023, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

He was born on December 29, 1956, to Herbert Jr. and Faye (Austin) Oxford in Evansville, IN. Tim graduated from Cave in Rock High School in 1974 and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

Tim was a loving husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, grandson, nephew and uncle. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family. He worked as a chemist at Minerva Oil Company in Cave in Rock, IL, Kerr-McGee Coal Mine in Galatia, IL, and he retired after thirty-one and a half years at Continental Tire in Mt. Vernon, IL.

He loved playing golf, working in his garden and watching all sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. High school basketball was also a passion throughout his life and while he started life as a Cave in Rock Eagle, he grew to love the Hamilton County Foxes.

Tim is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, Bobbi (Lynn) Oxford of McLeansboro, IL; son, Jonathan (Hannah) Field and grandson Michael Timothy of Springfield, IL; mother, Faye Oxford of Cave in Rock, IL; sister, Tammy Oxford of Henderson, KY; uncle and aunt, Arthur Jr. (Charlotte) Austin, sister-in-law, Sharon (Bob) Wilson of McLeansboro, IL; brother-in-law, Gary (Carolyn) Lynn of Dahlgren, IL; and brother-in-law, Billy (Stephanie) Lynn of McLeansboro, IL.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Oxford Jr.; his grandparents, Arthur Sr. and Verdna (Barnard) Austin and Herbert Sr. and Opal (Foster) Oxford; as well as his uncle and aunt, James and Veldene “Hootie” (Austin) Kenreck.

Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Harre Funeral Home, 310 West Randolph Street, McLeansboro, IL.

Visitation was held Sunday, July 16, 2023, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, IL, with Brother Carl Wilson officiating.
