Obituary of Robert Stephen Tolbert

Robert Stephen Tolbert, 73, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Hardin County General Hospital after a recent cancer diagnosis.
Steve was a member of the Rosiclare First Baptist Church.
Steve proudly served in the United States Marine Corp and was deployed to Vietnam. He was a member of Paul C. Rowan American Legion Post #571 of Rosiclare and the VFW Post 9227 in Golconda.
He was owner and operator of Tolbert Lumber Company for 33 years.
Survivors include his wife, Rosalie (Ashford) Tolbert of Rosiclare; sons, Matthew (Anastasia) Tolbert of Bardstown, KY; Douglas (Stephanie) Tolbert of Madison, AL; and Martin Madsen, chosen bonus son of Copenhagen, Denmark; grandsons, Jackson, Henry and Charles Tolbert and Nikolai and Thomas Madsen; sister, Della Jarvis of Elizabethtown, IL; and brothers, Doodle (Ethel) Tolbert of Lake Zurich, IL and Roy (Kay) Tolbert of Rosiclare, IL.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Beatrice (Showalter) Tolbert; sisters, Mary Ann (Jesse) Keeney and Rose (Gary) Reed; and brother, Deneen “Stack” (Norma Jean) Tolbert.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday June 10, 2023 at Hardin County Funeral Service in Rosiclare, IL, with interment in Central Cemetery. The family will receive family at 4 p.m. and all other visitors from 5-8 p.m., Friday June 9, 2023, and again from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home on Saturday.
Military rites will be given at the cemetery by the Paul C. Rowan American Legion Post #571.
