Obituary of Gaylon Shores
Gaylon Shores, age 78, of rural Elizabethtown, IL passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at home. Gaylon was born August 13, 1944, to Lester W. and Bertha Frances (Lambert) Shores in Monroe, MI.
He was a prison guard with IDOC. Gaylon enjoyed fishing, hunting arrowheads and ginseng. He would always pay a quick visit to see his grandkids. He loved being outside, chopping wood, mowing, and just relaxing on the porch. Gaylon loved cooking on the grill and having all the kids over for dinner.
Gaylon is survived by his children, Kelly (Michael) Wendler, Kasi (Dennis) Mitchell, Gaylon Wade Shores, Julie (Ty) Elliot; grandchildren, Tayler (Carver) Gregg, Cameron Wendler, Javen Wendler; Christopher (Samantha), Kayla, Tyler, Jack, Erica (Collin) Williams; Austin Whitledge; great-grandchildren, Allen, and Jeffery; sister, Lisa (Doug) Smith; brother, Robert (Karen) Boyd; and best friend, Dale Sisk.
Gaylon was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Ronnie Shores.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Peters Creek Baptist Church, Elizabethtown, IL. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the church. Pastor Mike Dutton will conduct the service. Interment will follow at Peters Creek Cemetery.
