Obituary of Loren Arnold Barger

Loren Arnold Barger, age 91, passed away at Carrier Mills Rehab Care Center. He was born September 30, 1930 in Pope County to Loren S. Barger and Roena Alma Williams Barger. After graduating from Pope County High School in 1948 he went to Caterpillar Tractor Co. in East Peoria.
He served two years in the U.S. Army stationed in Korea. He took advantage of early retirement from Caterpillar with 30 years, in 1978 returned to his family farm, where he and his wife raised cattle for 30 plus years.
He married Aletta Mae Fulkerson on May 13, 1951. They celebrated their 70th anniversary on the farm.
He is survived by his wife, along with his two lovely daughters, Cindy (Clay) Simmons and Tammy (Dale) Dodd. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Ashley Overstreet, Rachel Rorer, Tyler Dunning, Logan Dodd and Morgan Tanner; four great-grandchildren, Emma Myers, Conner Rorer, Hannah Rorer and Kennedy Overstreet; one brother, Larry Barger and Denita; two sisters-in-laws, Bonnie Barger and Deanna Barger; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Mildred (Richard) McCormick, Catherine (Bernard) Hurford, Maxine (Ray) Lunsford, and Kathleen (Wallace) Whiteside; two brothers, Gene Barger and Donald Barger.
Loren donated his body to School of Medicine in Carbondale.
There will be no services as he wished.
