Rosiclare voters need to read the April 6, 2021 election ballot question carefully

This week I received a call about the question concerning alcohol on the specimen ballot printed in the March 4, 2021 and in the legal section printed March 11, 2021 in the Hardin County Independents.

The ballot question is:

———-

CITY OF ROSICLARE
PROPOSITION TO PROHIBIT
THE RETAIL SALE
OF ALCOHOLIC LIQUOR

“Shall the sale at retail of alcoholic liquor be prohibited in the City of Rosiclare, Hardin County, Illinois?”

Yes
No

———-

The caller said brightly colored post cards have been mailed out by “Citizens for a better Hardin County” to Rosiclare residents telling people to vote YES if they want alcohol sales in Rosiclare. The post card could be misleading to some. If a person votes YES on the ballot at the April 6, 2021 election, then they are actually saying they don’t want alcohol sold and to continue to prohibit alcohol sales in Rosiclare.

Early voting in now in progress. Be sure you to read the ballot question carefully. If you DON’T WANT alcohol to be sold in Rosiclare, vote YES. If you DO want alcohol to be sold in Rosiclare, vote NO.
