Obituary of Lawrence C. “Larry” Volkert
Lawrence C. “Larry” Volkert, 82, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital. He was born July 22, 1938 in Elizabethtown, IL to the late Charles and Mary Agnes (Forwe) Volkert.
Lawrence was a graduate of Rosiclare High School and attended Southern Illinois University where he studied accounting. He retired as an accountant from Goodwill Industries. Lawrence was a member of All Saints Parish-St. Anthony Campus. He completed Air Force Reserve Officer’s training at Southern Illinois University and Army Reserve medical training at Fort Sam in Houston, TX. He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
Lawrence is survived by his sister Virginia (Walter) Angermeier, of Indianapolis, IN; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bernard, Mark, Omer, and Adolph Volkert.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2021 at All Saints Parish-St. Anthony Campus, 704 N. First Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the church with Father Lowell Will officiating. The Mass will be live-streamed on Ziemer Funeral Home and Cremation Services’ Facebook page 20 minutes prior to service time.
Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Elizabethtown, IL.
