Obituary of James “Hornet” Chancey

James “Hornet” Chancey, age 65, of Rosiclare, IL passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.
He was born on May 6, 1955 to James W. and Donna Jo (Watson) Chancey in Rosiclare, IL.
He grew up with his brother, Doug, and sister, Susie. Many cousins and one Aunt Mary Lynn Roberts. He graduated from the Ridgway High School
After his father passed he began working at Ronnie’s gas station and he always went with Ronnie to pick up cars. After Ronnie and Mary Kay closed the station he went to Baldwin’s Body Shop. Ronnie and Mary Kay were like parents to him and Kevin Baldwin was like a brother.
Hornet also loved cookouts and playing cards with friends and family. He went to the Pope County Workshop and worked every day. He loved attending church and hearing sermons.
He was the Cardinals #1 fan. He could tell you the plays and stats of every player as he attended numerous games. “B” Sumners, Bobby Anderson and Scotty Riester were Hornet’s buddies cheering the team on. Bro. Roy Baker and son took Hornet to St. Louis games.
Hornet is survived by his sister, Susie Douglas; and two nephews Michael and Brandon Blair.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Doug Chancey.
Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville, IL. Bro. Fred Birch conducted the service. Interment followed at Empire Cemetery in Elizabethtown, IL. Visitation was held from 11:00 a.m. till time of service at the funeral home.
