Obituary of Leroy “Lee” Meinders

Leroy “Lee” Meinders, age 88, of Golconda, IL passed away on September 4, 2020 at Parkway Manor in Marion, IL. He was born August 6, 1932 in Massac County to Edward and Bertha (Kruger) Meinders.
Lee married Judith Tucker on August 20, 1961 in Elizabethtown, IL. Lee was a U.S. Marine veteran who served in the Korean War. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Elizabethtown. Lee was retired from Martin Marietta.
Lee is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judy Meinders; niece Alison and husband Stan Powles; nephew, Wade Barnerd; and cousin, Dale Bremer.
In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by three sisters, Geraldine Meinders, Pauline Burns, and Frances Marks.
A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2020 at the First Baptist Church Elizabethtown, IL. Bro. Ed Lafferty conducted the service. Burial followed at the Empire Cemetery in Elizabethtown, IL. Visitation was held from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service at the church on Monday.
