The Paul C. Rowan American Legion post #571’s held its annual Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 27. The event was held at the Rosiclare Riverfront Park where those who participated were blessed with shade and breezes from the Ohio River.
This solemn occasion allowed all in attendance to show respect, support, honor for the veterans who served our country. Most importantly at this occasion, honor was given to those who lost their lives in active service.
Veteran Bro. Roy Baker led the service. Bill Williams’ grandkids led the Pledge of Allegiance. Williams read the poem, “Ode to a Veteran”. Bro. Baker led the crowd in the song, “God Bless America.” Names were read of all Hardin County veterans who never came home. Following the gun salute and presentation of colors, Dan Lamar played “Taps” on the trumpet.
