FFA members bring home wins

FFA team wins Section 25 Ag Business CDE

Members of the Hardin County FFA Chapter traveled to Southeastern Illinois College on March 6 to compete in the Section 25 Ag Business CDE. After a hard fought battle, the Hardin County Team emerged as the winning team. This event consisted of a written test over the principles of owning and operating an agribusiness. Eight teams competed.
“This is a great contest to tie what the students are learning in the classroom to real world applications,” said FFA Advisor John Hall. “I am thrilled to be able to attend this event with this great group of students.” He also added, “I’m so proud of these students and what they have done here. This is our first year competing in this CDE and it’s amazing to come away with the win!”
Team members were: Adriana Armstrong, Allison Carr, Caitlin Daymon, Alexandria Ostrow and Sean Lane.

Daymon wins FFA Prepared Public Speaking CDE

Hardin County FFA was represented by two members at the Section 25 Public Speaking Career Development Event (CDE) held February 21, 2019 at Vienna High School. Members representing the chapter were Caitlin Daymon and Kylie Mosby. Daymon competed in the Varsity Prepared Public Speaking while Mosby competed in the Extemporaneous Public Speaking.
When final scores were tabulated, Caitlin won the Prepared Public Speaking event. Caitlin advanced and will compete in the District 5 Public Speaking CDE. This will be held at SIU on April 24, 2019.
“I’m very proud of both these young ladies. It takes a special kind of courage to speak publicly, and both these ladies possess that courage,” said Hardin County FFA Advisor John Hall. “I’m very excited for Caitlin to compete in the district event and can’t wait to watch her in action.”
